What you will find in the San Juan Chess Club @ YMCA

  • Elite International Competitor – Serbian Grandmaster Luka Budisavljević earned the GM title at a young age and has competed successfully in strong international tournaments across Europe and beyond.

  • Youth Chess Standout – A decorated youth player, Luka represented Serbia in major international competitions, building a reputation as one of his country’s most promising chess talents. He won two Bronze Medals at the World Junior Championships.

  • World-Class Coach – Beyond competition, Luka is an experienced coach and published Chessable author, bringing a modern approach to chess instruction that helps players improve their opening preparation, calculation, and competitive mindset.

Starting in July 2026, the San Juan Chess Club at the YMCA of San Juan will offer monthly and yearly memberships for players of all ages, creating a true home for Puerto Rico’s chess community. Members will have the unique opportunity to train with Resident Grandmaster Luka Budisavljević through special sessions, exhibitions, and exclusive programming, while also enjoying access to weekly FIDE-rated tournaments that provide consistent competitive opportunities for improvement and international rating growth.
